Charter Petition Successfully Submitted

 

Dear Parents and Community Members,

 

We are pleased to share an important milestone Sunshine Charter School has successfully submitted its charter petition to the San Juan Unified School District on February 1, 2026.

​

This marks a significant step forward in our journey to bring a high-quality, multilingual, and culturally responsive educational program to our community.

​

What’s Next

The District will now begin the review process. As part of this process, public hearings will be scheduled, where the community will have the opportunity to learn more about the school and show support.

​

Members of the public are encouraged to attend these hearings. During the meeting, public comment will be open to all attendees, providing an opportunity for parents and community members to share their support for Sunshine Charter School. Each speaker will typically be allotted up to two minutes to provide comments.

​

We strongly encourage families and supporters to participate in the public comment process, as it is an important way to demonstrate community interest and support for the school.

The date, time, and location of the first public hearing will be shared as soon as it is scheduled. Additional details, including how to participate and submit a speaker request, will also be provided in our upcoming announcements.
